Beasts of Fire Inferno (Play'n GO): buffalo turn to fire beasts as the grid grows, with Hold N' Load coins and a 50,000x ceiling
Published 1 November 2026. Play'n GO released Beasts of Fire Inferno on 27 October 2026, a follow-up to Beasts of Fire that moves the herd into a frozen mountain wilderness and sets it on fire. Lava cuts through snow and stone, a fire beast runs at the centre of it, and the game keeps coming back to one idea: the animals on the reels are not decoration, they change shape and change the grid. Buffalo become fire beasts, coins pile up in a core, and a storm of fire frames can rewrite a spin after it lands.

The herd that changes shape
The base game pays on 1,024 ways across five reels and four rows. Card symbols from 10 to ace are the low pays, worth 0.1x to 1.6x the bet for five of a kind. The animals sit above them: raccoon, eagle, cougar and bear pay 0.6x to 4x, and the buffalo tops the base game at 0.4x to 8x. The wild stands in for every paying symbol except the fire ball, the buffalo relic and the Bonus Inferno Coins, so it helps the ways game but never stands in for a feature trigger.
That paytable is only half the picture. The buffalo is a placeholder for something bigger: in Fire Free Spins it stops being a buffalo at all and becomes the fire beast, the top symbol of the round at 0.8x to 16x. Play'n GO's games ambassador Magnus Wallentin put it plainly in the release: the fire beast has a role beyond its appearance, and the transformation during free spins is the moment that brings the game together.
Coins, the core and Hold N' Load
Bonus Inferno Coins land on the reels and are collected by the Inferno Core, the burning orb that sits beside the grid. A coin is one of three kinds: a reward boost worth a multiplier of x1 to x5 in Hold N' Load, a power boost worth a fixed jackpot of mini x10, minor x25, major x250 or grand x1,000, or a mystery coin that reveals one of the two. Hold N' Load itself starts at random in the base game or when a coin is collected. Only coins land during it, they stick where they fall, and the round starts with three respins that reset to three every time a new coin lands.
The board grows as the coins pile up. Rows five to eight start locked, and a new row opens when 3, 10, 15 and 20 coins have been collected. Coins that land on locked rows, or that are activated when a row unlocks, do not reset the respin counter and do not count toward the next unlock, so the count only moves on clean hits. Landing the grand power coin, or filling the reels with symbols, awards the grand multiplier. Three to five x2 multipliers can also stick to random symbol positions and apply to reward and power coins that land on the same spot, and an Extra Boost can appear during the feature. The round runs until the respins run out.
Inferno Storm rewrites the spin
The Buffalo Relic only appears on reel three, and when it does, Inferno Storm fires. Between 3 and 20 fire frames land on random positions and turn the symbol inside each frame into one matching beast symbol, so a scattered set of buffalo, bears and eagles can suddenly line up. It works in the base game and in free spins, and in free spins the frames are fewer but stickier: the relic can land on any spin of the round and create one to four fire frames that stay on the reels, and at the end of the round those frames turn into one beast symbol. It is the one feature that can rescue a spin that already looked finished.
Fire Free Spins, one row taller
The fire ball scatter lands on reels two to four. Three of them award eight Fire Free Spins, and the round plays on a grid one row taller than the base game, which lifts the ways from 1,024 to 3,125. Every buffalo on the reels becomes a fire beast for the whole round, and each extra scatter that lands adds a spin, up to 47 in total. The buffalo relic can still land during the round and trigger Inferno Storm with its sticky frames, so the two transformation features stack instead of taking turns.
What to check before playing
Two things deserve a second look. Listings disagree on volatility: most call it medium-high, at least one calls it high, so the table follows the majority and the difference is worth knowing if you plan a long session. And the 50,000x ceiling is a ceiling, not a target: it sits at the far end of stacked features, a maxed-out free spins round with frames and coins lining up together, not something a normal session reaches. The other number to check at your casino is the RTP setting, since 96.2% is the headline figure and settings vary by operator and region.
